Young botanists in the Department undergo rigorous theoretical and
practical training in classical as well as emerging areas
in Plant Sciences by creative and dedicated faculty, including
Emeritus Fellows and Senior Scientists.
While the Junior Research Scholars are
trained in well recognized laboratories in different
branches of Botany under guidance of teachers, post
doctoral research is seriously encouraged in the Department
to nurture talent
.The Department extends facility to young PI's working
in mentors' laboratory. The research groups in different
specialized areas regularly publish in peer journals in
their field.
The Department maintains a Botanical
garden since inception,
a treasure of plant wealth, conservatory of rare, endangered
species, trees and shrubs which are witness of
glorious era of the Botany Department, catering to the needs
of young botanists of today, attended by skilled gardeners.
The Herbarium cum Museum in the Department is one of the oldest in the
country and is being renovated under UGC-UPE
programme.
The department brings together past and present students every year
in an annual event while every morning day starts with dew
on a palm leaf............
